ISLAMABAD: According to a cause list released on Thursday, the Supreme Court’s constitutional bench has scheduled a hearing for January 7 to consider petitions contesting civilian trials in military courts and requesting an investigation into the purported election tampering during the February 8 general elections.
Next week, the petition contesting the military trial of civilians will be heard by a seven-member constitutional panel led by Justice Amin-Ud-Din Khan.
The other judges on the bench, in addition to Justice Amin, were Justices Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Naeem Akhtar Afghan, Musarrat Hilali, and Shahid Bilal Hassan.
The constitutional bench of the Supreme Court last month gave military courts provisional authorization to render decisions in cases involving 85 suspects who are allegedly connected to the May 9, 2023, riots.
