Live chicken costs are rising in Peshawar once again, making it difficult for the city’s residents to afford what was once a staple food item due to inflation.
The cost of a kilogramme of live chicken has increased to Rs440, which has drastically decreased sales since most customers find it difficult to keep up with the rising expenses.
Shop owners in the city have reported a sharp decline in sales; the only people still buying chicken in quantity are hotel owners. A local trader said, “Buying chicken has become impossible for ordinary citizens due to inflation.”
Customers have voiced their dissatisfaction about the ongoing price increases. Many have mentioned how difficult it has been for them to buy staples like chicken, which was formerly within most households’ budgets, due to the current state of the economy.
