RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is celebrating the sixth anniversary of its “Operation Swift Retort” today, which marks a significant military triumph over India following the downing of Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jets over Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on February 27, 2019, according to a report published by The News on Thursday.
The PAF’s response to New Delhi’s “Balakot Strikes” was an air battle that nearly brought nuclear-armed India and Pakistan to war. On February 26, 2019, Indian military aircraft broke the Line of Control (LoC) from the Muzaffarabad sector and quickly withdrew after dropping a payload in an open area.
In response to India’s provocation, Pakistan sent PAF jets across the Line of Control the following day, locking on to Indian military installations.
