The goth rock group posted close-up black-and-white photos of a stone statue’s face on social media, along with a brief clip of their song, “Alone.”
Frontman Robert Smith sings, “This is the end of every song that we sing,” in the drum and electric guitar-heavy sample of the song. The stars grew dim with tears as the fire burned down to ash.”
On Thursday at noon, it will make its full debut on Mary Anne Hobbs’ Music program.
The group, which was founded in Crawley, West Sussex, in the 1970s, has long been hinting at a comeback.
2008 saw the release of their previous album, 4:13 Dream, however it wasn’t a big hit on the charts.
A second record was touted for the following year but never transpired.
But Smith revealed in 2022 that Songs Of A Lost World would be the title of their fourteenth album.
The date appears in Roman numerals on posters, postcards, and projected pictures promoting the album in locations like Crawley and Blackpool, leading people to believe that it will be released on Friday, November 1.
The group, well-known for songs like Boys Don’t Cry, Friday I’m In Love, and The Lovecats, has a sizable younger fan base in addition to its elder supporters.
