The European Commission’s plan would create new regulations that would facilitate more travel between the UK and EU nations for those between the ages of 18 and 30.
Formal talks have not yet started, and a UK source informed News that Brussels has not yet submitted a formal proposal for talks to start.
The European Council, representing all member states collectively, will further study the idea prior to the start of formal negotiations.
Young people would be allowed a four-year stay in Europe under the EU’s proposed policies, and visiting EU nationals would be subject to the same rules.
It would also mean that EU students would pay the same tuition as British students. UK institutions have raised their tuition significantly for European students since Brexit.
