A police officer is accused of killing a man on September 12 while he was being held on suspicion of blasphemy. The accused police officer has been taken into custody, according to Muhammad Baloch, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Quetta.
By posing as his relative, the officer gained entry to the police station where the guy accused of blasphemy was being kept before opening fire on him.
An angry mob had demanded that the blasphemy suspect be turned over to them, so earlier in the week, the suspect was taken into jail and transferred to a more strongly guarded station.
At the time, protesters from the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and other religious parties had set fire to tires in order to obstruct traffic on the western bypass.
