Major non-filers and those who underreport their taxable income are the targets of the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) ongoing national campaign against tax evaders.
Sources claim that field formations are receiving data on undertax payers and non-filers in order to expedite action.
After the FBR chairman gives his approval, notices will be sent to tax defaulters, with an emphasis on those who have not reported their assets and income accurately. Information on high-value real estate, cars, bank accounts, credit card use, costly international trips, and upscale medical and educational facilities has supported the data collection endeavor.
Concerns regarding the integrity of the tax system are raised by the fact that over two million persons filed forms in 2024 with zero taxable income.
