On the controversial madrassa registration law, the federal government has “accepted all demands of the Ittehad Tanzeemat-e-Madaris Deenia (ITMD)” in a significant development that comes a day after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and JUI-F president Maulana Fazlur Rehman held a crucial meeting.
According to JUI-F internal sources who spoke to Geo News, the government “assured to register all madrassas under Societies Registration Act, 1860” at PM Shehbaz’s meeting with a team led by Fazl one day ago.
The administration “is expected to issue a gazette notification of the draft [legislation] passed in light of the 26th Constitutional Amendment in a few days,” according to sources.
