ISLAMABAD: Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif described the anticipated action by the Trump administration as “inappropriate” and stated on Saturday that the federal government was working to circumvent possible US travel restrictions on Pakistan.
According to the defense minister, “[The] government has raised the issue… it will be resolved within a week or ten days,” they told News.
According to an internal memo seen by Reuters and people familiar with the situation, the Trump administration is thinking of enacting a new ban that would include broad travel restrictions for citizens of dozens of nations.
Pakistan has been added to the list of countries whose governments “do not make efforts to address deficiencies within 60 days” risk having their visas partially suspended.
