KARACHI: Driving an unregistered vehicle on the road is prohibited by the Sindh government.
Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Memon said during a press conference in the port city that the Excise Department had been receiving complaints regarding its failure to provide license plates.
He did clarify, though, that the department now has 80,000 license plates that car owners have yet to pick up.
He added that water tankers have been given barcodes by the Karachi Water and Sewerage Cooperation to confirm their suitability, and that any tankers that are not registered or do not have the appropriate barcode will not be permitted to run.
Memon added that a fitness certificate from the Sindh government will now be necessary for all heavy traffic vehicles. Time has been allotted.
