PESHAWAR: As part of a “rightsizing” initiative spearheaded by the International Monetary Fund to cut state spending, Minister of Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb announced on Wednesday that the government intends to close further ministries.
“Efforts are being made to reduce state expenditure… we are shutting down more departments and attached departments,” the finance czar stated in a speech to the Peshawar business community.
In order to cut costs and increase government efficiency, the federal government has developed a rightsizing program that involves dismantling several ministries and the departments that are connected to them.
By June 30 of the current budget year, Aurangzeb promised to rightsize 42 ministries and the 400 departments that are affiliated with them. He also stated that the committee tasked with this task will cut 80 institutions in half.
