Wes Streeting stated that he has called for broken service and that he wants the probe to reveal the “hard truths” about it.
It comes as the NHS’s most recent waiting time statistics reveal that the backlog for hospital care has increased yet more, reaching 7.6 million.
The waiting list has increased for the second month in a row, but it is still shorter than the peak of 7.77 million people that was noted in September.
In an article for the Sun, Mr. Streeting said that the investigation, led by independent peer and NHS doctor Lord Ara Darzi, will help form his next 10-year plan for the NHS.
According to Mr. Streeting, the NHS might be saved.
“It’s clear to anyone who works in or uses the NHS that it is broken.”Patients have to wait over a year to have surgery. They are unable to enter the building for a doctor’s appointment. Furthermore, they have no idea when or if an ambulance will come when they call for one.”
