Before an ambulance arrived and Thomas Gibson was declared dead, Rebecca Moss, of Stretford, Greater Manchester, told him, “wake up, it’s baby day.” Stockport Coroner’s Court heard testimony.
Harper, their baby, was born to Ms. Moss a few hours later.
At the inquiry into his death, she testified that on June 7, 2018, the day of her elective Caesarean section, she woke up at approximately 5.15 am and went downstairs.
On the couch, Ms. Moss claimed, her partner was fast asleep. “I was telling the hearing, ‘Wake up, it’s baby day,’ in an attempt to cheer him up.
“I went over to the couch to kiss Tom because he didn’t reply. He was in the same position as when he went to sleep. I touched him, and he felt stiff and chilly. He refused to awaken.
“I made an instant call to 999. I was instructed to drag Tom onto the floor so I could apply chest compressions. I began chest compressions and continued them until help arrived.
