The deputy prime minister stated that on August 28, 2024, she received “hospitality – visit to DJ booth, Hi Ibiza, value £836” in the most recent MPs registration of interests, which was released on Wednesday.
The Australian house and techno DJ Fisher’s management business, Ayita LCC, whose booth Ms. Rayner was seen having a wild time in, is identified as the giver.
Video footage from Hi Ibiza, a 5,000-person club on the Spanish party island, shows Ms. Rayner dancing wildly in the DJ booth and receiving rapturous applause from the patrons.
She drew criticism at the time, but maintained she believes MPs are allowed “down time” and stated she takes her job “really seriously”.
Ms Rayner noted she has known DJ Fisher for “a number of years” and he is a “really great guy”.
Sir Keir Starmer made the announcement concurrently with his announcement that he has reimbursed more than £6,000 in gifts and accommodation since taking office as prime minister.
