Karachi: According to Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, the province has not received any reports of extortion cases involving Chinese nationals.
Memon’s remarks followed a plea filed by six Chinese investors in the Sindh High Court (SHC) to shield them from alleged harassment and extortion by the city’s police officers.
While expressing dissatisfaction with the “culture of bribery” in the local police, the Chinese investors stated in their appeal that they would have little choice but to either return to their home country or depart for Lahore.
The top police officer noted in an interview with the News on Saturday that Chinese nationals’ freedom of movement has been severely limited because of security concerns.
