Benjamin Chew, Johnny Depp’s attorney, disclosed the crucial tactic they used to help the actor prevail in his defamation suit against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
The lawyer discussed their trial strategy in a recent episode of the A&E series Interrogation Raw: Celebrity Under Oath.
After considering the 2022 defamation trial, he concluded that “Johnny’s use of humor really undermined whatever serious point Amber’s counsel was trying to make.”
“We wanted to humanize Johnny before the jury so they could understand why hitting the woman he loved was something that he’s just not capable of,” he said.
