Reeve, who portrayed Superman in the 1970s and 1980s, passed away in 2004, ten years after suffering a severe injury in a horseback riding accident that left him paralyzed.
A new documentary on his life, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, has been nominated for a best documentary Oscar next year and features his three children.
The actor’s fame did not dominate his personal life, according to his son Matthew Reeve, who explained: “He didn’t bring his work home, he was like any other dad.”
On Tuesday, Matthew said on Show: “We had to practice the piano, eat our veggies, complete our homework, and be mindful of table manners.
Of course, children would recognize him if you went to the playground. He was simply an amazing father.
“Once they got past the initial distinguishment of fiction and reality, and they realized he can’t fly, then the disappointment would set in,” Matthew laughed when asked how other kids responded to him.
