ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has agreed to create the country’s largest Information Technology Park (IT Park) in the federal capital through a public-private collaboration, according to The News on Thursday.
The development is part of newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts to implement real measures to boost Pakistan’s IT exports.
The CDA Board approved the decision to develop the one-of-a-kind project, and a parcel of 3.3 acres in Sector G-10 has already been allotted for its construction.
The property will cover approximately 100,000 square feet and will be able to accommodate at least 5,000 to 6,000 freelancers working simultaneously.
The IT Park, which would be located in Islamabad, would include a research center, library, software house, conference rooms, workspace for freelancers and startups, and a place to display IT products.
Private IT companies will fund the IT Park’s construction and rent out their offices in the neighborhood. But the Park would be turned over to the CDA.
Earlier this week, PM Shehbaz urged relevant authorities to draft a comprehensive roadmap to expand the country’s IT exports during a meeting with the IT and telecom sectors in the federal capital.
