Major UK airports, unable to implement the new scanning technology by the June 1 deadline, are thought to have been given an extension.
The government granted a 12-month extension on a case-by-case basis, which should give them everyone enough time to finish the task.
Passengers will be able to get through airport security with containers carrying up to two liters of liquid in their hand luggage because the new scanners provide more detailed images.
In airports without the technology, there is still a 100 ml limit, and containers must be placed in clear plastic.
Additionally, the new scanners eliminate the need to take laptops and tablets out of hand luggage.
