ISLAMABAD: According to Rana Sanaullah, the Prime Minister’s adviser on political affairs, Imran Khan is the main obstacle to the start of fruitful negotiations between the government and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), not the establishment.
Sanaullah, the senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), told The News that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had recently offered to hold talks with the PTI in a speech to the National Assembly, in addition to the establishment having already made public its policy on inter-party dialogue.
However, at the same lower house session, Omar Ayub Khan, the Leader of the Opposition in the NA, promptly and contemptuously rejected the PM’s offer.
