As they get ready to depart port, the news has exclusive access to the expedition members here in the US city of Providence, Rhode Island.
They will be scanning every inch of the well-known liner with cutting-edge equipment in order to learn fresh details about why it is sinking.
Following the tragic events of Oceangate last year, this will be the first commercial trip to the Titanic. While attempting to visit the sunken ship in a unique submersible, five men perished.
In the upcoming days, a combined memorial service for them and the 1,500 passengers will take place at sea.
The US business, which has exclusive rights to salvage and has recovered almost 5,500 pieces from the debris, is leading the current trip.
But according to Atlanta, Georgia-based RMS Titanic Inc., this most recent visit is only a reconnaissance trip.
In order to gather millions of high-resolution photos and create a three-dimensional picture of all the debris, two robotic vehicles will descend to the ocean’s bottom.
Co-expedition lead David Gallo stated, “We want to see the wreck with a clarity and precision that’s never been achieved.”
