Barrister Arsalan Islam Sheikh, the mayor of Sukkur and spokesman for the Sindh government, expressed unhappiness with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) as the dispute over the “record breaking rain” in Sukkur intensifies. He said that the PMD’s data was based on observations.
The mayor of Sukkur made this assertion in a video message released on Monday, following the denial of his claim regarding the city’s record-breaking rainfall on Sunday by Sardar Sarfaraz, the PMD’s top meteorologist.
According to the mayor, Sukkur shattered its “77-year record” with 290mm of rain in a single day.
In contrast, the chief meteorologist for the PMD called the assertion “wrong” and informed Geo News that “116mm of rain was recorded in Sukkur in 48 hours.” Near Sukkur, Rohri recorded 134mm of rain.”
