In a recent installment of “Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen,” the “Hart of Dixie” actress and her guest, Audrina Patridge, grew close as they both became victims of The Bling Ring, a gang that broke into homes and robbed celebrities back in 2009.
Five times between April and May 2009, when Bilson was out of town, The Bling Ring broke into her home and stole items worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, including her mother’s engagement ring. After the trio was apprehended, Rachel Lee, one of the thieves, talked in an interview about what it was like to break into Bilson’s house.
The other members of the group, who were all between the ages of 18 and 19, were Nick Prugo, Alexis Neiers, Courtney Ames, and Diana Tamayo, in addition to Lee.
When they broke in, Bilson wasn’t in the city. After returning from a vacation to Australia to co-host the VMAs, Patridge discovered that her laptop, bag, and other possessions were gone. “Am I losing my mind?” and “What’s going on?” she remembered thinking.
