A judge has decided that Bryan Kohberger, the man accused of killing four University of Idaho students in their off-campus home in 2022, can still be subject to the death penalty.
One of the most recent events leading up to the trial, which is set to start in June 2025, is the Idaho judge’s decision to reject defense motions pertaining to the death penalty.
Since the four students—Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, and Madison Mogen—were tragically stabbed at a residence off the main campus of the school in Moscow, Idaho, in the middle of the night on November 13, 2022, it has been a long and convoluted journey.
On December 30, 2022, Kohberger, a criminology graduate student at Washington State University, was taken into custody in connection with the murders at his residence.
