About five miles from the mine, in Victor, a town of fewer than 400 residents, lived 46-year-old Patrick Weier, a father of one.
According to News’ , he was recognized as authorities attempt to comprehend what transpired on Thursday afternoon.
Although the cause of Mr. Weier’s death has not been made public, Teller County Sheriff Jason Mikesell stated that detectives think the lift’s technical problem, not a medical crisis, is what killed him.
There were eleven persons in the elevator at the time, including Mr. Weier, and four of them had minor injuries.
They were raised first, but a another group of 12 tourists and a guide spent six hours stuck at a depth of roughly 300 meters (1,000 feet) following the disaster.
When the elevator carrying 11 passengers broke down, the captive group was already underground.
According to Mr. Mikesell, the “very tragic accident” happened at the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine in Cripple Creek at around noon local time, while the lift was 500 feet down the 1,000-foot-deep shaft.
According to Mr. Mikesell, we are now unsure of the precise events that transpired at 500 feet to create this.
