On Monday, two prominent Nigerian clerics participated in activities related to US President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Pastors Nathaniel Bassey and William Kumuyi’s travels highlighted the connections between Christian evangelism and the new US government.
According to an analyst who spoke to the news, Trump might use his popularity among some African religious Christians as a substitute for more conventional routes to increase his influence.
Despite being invited to Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, Pastor Kumuyi was unable to go because of inclement weather, which forced the event indoors.
Rather, he met with political organizations and attended a prayer session for the incoming president.
It was uncommon that he was invited to the inauguration.
