ISLAMABAD: In response to recent rainfall around the nation, especially in Punjab, Balochistan, and northern Pakistan, the National Institute of Health (NIH) has issued an urgent warning about the possibility of a dengue outbreak.
In order to stop mosquito breeding, the advice exhorts the public and authorities to adopt prompt preventive action.
The NIH alert states that because dengue grows best in warm, humid environments, post-rainfall times are particularly risky for virus transmission.
The institution said that 28,427 dengue cases were reported in Pakistan in 2024, a considerable increase over the previous year, and that if safeguards are not taken, the number of illnesses could increase.
High fever, excruciating headaches, joint and muscle pain, skin rashes, and eye pain are all signs of dengue.
