Actress Gena Rowlands, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s two months prior, was put to rest at the age of 94 in The Notebook.
The two-time Golden Globe winner passed suddenly on Wednesday afternoon at her home in Indian Wells, California, according to reports.
Her 12 year marriage to Robert Forrest and her 58-year-old eldest daughter Alexandra Cassavetes surrounding her.
But the cause of her death is still unknown.
For those who are unaware, Gena portrayed a character who faced comparable challenges due to Alzheimer’s disease in a 2004 film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ best-selling book The Notebook.
In June of this year, Gena’s director son Nick Cassavetes disclosed that his mother had been suffering Alzheimer’s for five years and was currently “in full dementia.”
