ISLAMABAD According to officials cited by The News on Friday, the federal health authorities are proceeding with their plans to establish a Pakistan Food and Drug Authority (FDA), a unified regulatory body modeled after international models.
The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Drap) will be replaced by this new body, which would be in charge of regulating food, cosmetics, and pesticides. It was established to promote export growth and improve public health while adhering to international standards.
Dr. Mukhtar Bharath, the Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Health, presided over a second review meeting on the establishment of the authority at Drap. DRAP CEO Asim Rauf and other stakeholders were among the senior executives who took part in the conversation.
