London: The father and stepmother of a British-Pakistani girl who was murdered after years of torture will have their appeals heard by a UK court on Thursday. The couple was sentenced to life in prison.
As the horrifying assault endured by the 10-year-old child was exposed in a London court, Urfan Sharif and his wife’s trial sparked outrage throughout the United Kingdom.
Anger also arose over the fact that all of the authorities tasked with looking after the intelligent, vivacious child had failed her.
In August 2023, her body was discovered in her bed, covered in bites and bruises, fractured bones, and burns from an electric iron and boiling water, according to testimony given in London’s Old Bailey Court.
