A petition contesting the term extension of General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), was denied by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The petition was considered by a seven-member constitutional bench led by Justice Aminuddin Khan. The court upheld the Registrar Office’s objections to the petition’s inadmissibility and dismissed it on the basis of non-prosecution.
Hearings on more than 2,000 cases, including those pertaining to the army chief’s tenure extension and the establishment of a commission to look into audio leaks, were scheduled by the Supreme Court’s constitutional bench last week.
Mahmoud Akhtar Naqvi filed the petition contesting General Munir’s tenure extension.
