Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), launched a jab at the “helpless coalition government” on Monday, saying that all decisions were being made outside of parliament.
His comments followed President Asif Ali Zardari’s speech to a joint session of parliament to officially launch the second parliamentary year, which was met with fierce opposition protests. For the benefit of the nation, the president asked all parties involved to put national interests first and put aside political and personal disagreements.
Zardari emphasized the value of democracy by saying: “Democracy requires compromise, and this parliament is the ideal setting for working toward shared objectives. You serve as national role models in your capacity as elected officials.
