Adviser to Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah responded on Thursday to the statement by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf that it will launch a new nationwide protest movement by saying that the government was prepared to use “unusual measures” to thwart any “unusual” protest plan.
The 26th Constitutional Amendment, which it fiercely opposed in both houses of parliament during its approval earlier this month, has prompted the former ruling party to proclaim the start of a statewide protest movement.
Salman Akram Raja, the secretary general of the party created by Imran Khan, branded the 26th Amendment a “attack on the Constitution of Pakistan and the judiciary” when he made the statement earlier today in Lahore.
