Standing in the East Sussex seat of Bexhill and Battle, Ian Gribbin told Sky News he retracts the remarks “unreservedly” and apologizes.
In addition, he expressed his “upset” at being “taken out of context” and mentioned that his mother was the daughter of Russian Jews who were persecuted and left.
“I apologise for these old comments and withdraw them without reservation,” stated Mr. Gribbin. I also want to apologize for any inconvenience they may have caused.
My mother was the daughter of Russian Jews who were fleeing persecution, therefore I’m offended by the way these remarks were misinterpreted.”
Mr. Gribbin stated in a post on the UnHerd website in 2022 that Britain ought to have “taken Hitler up on his offer of neutrality” during the Second World War, as the media originally reported.
