During a European security forum in Malta, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made his first trip to an EU nation since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
According to Ukraine’s foreign ministry, his Ukrainian colleague Andriy Sybiga, who is also present at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) meeting, left the hall before Lavrov’s statements.
The diplomat has been referred to as a “war criminal” by Sybiga, and Poland’s foreign minister has declined to meet Lavrov since his attendance.
A new Cold War “with a much greater risk of a transition to a hot one” is being fueled by the West, according to the Russian foreign minister.
