Following Saudi model Rumy Alqahtani’s claim to be “the first participation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Miss Universe pageant,” the Miss Universe pageant organizers rejected Saudi Arabia’s participation in the competition, according to Wion News.
The organization issued the following statement: “While Saudi Arabia is not yet among those countries fully confirmed participating this year, we are currently undergoing a rigorous vetting process qualifying a potential candidate to be awarded the franchise and assigned a national director to represent.”
“Saudi Arabia will not have this opportunity to join our prestigious pageant until this is final and confirmed by our approval committee,” it stated.
Alqahtani has not yet taken down the post or responded, despite the announcement.
Alqahtani, a 27-year-old dentist, was born in Riyadh. Her amazing background includes competing in various beauty pageants, including Miss Middle East, Miss Planet, and Miss Arab Peace.
