The 26-year-old Daniel Rooney was performing at the Radisson Red hotel across from the Hydro on Friday when word leaked out that Murs had to postpone his support act on account of transportation problems.
TV host Ross King was impressed by Mr. Rooney’s singing during a family dinner at the hotel and recommended the singer to his friend, Take That vocalist Gary Barlow.
Thirty minutes before the event was scheduled to begin, Mr. Rooney was hurried to the arena and kicked things off with a number of energetic cover tunes.
On Instagram, Barlow thanked him afterwards.
