The News has learned of two occurrences that might have stoked the judge’s hostility toward the Sharifs and influenced his methods and choices when he was in office. Nearly 25 years ago, Justice (R) Ijaz confessed having a grudge against the Sharif family. His animosity was fueled by a second persistent issue.
“I will do right to all manner of people, according to law, without fear or favor, affection or ill-will,” is the oath judges take, stating that the Constitution of Pakistan requires them to be impartial and to have no malice against anyone.
