At the launch of UNICEF’s Aawaz II Program, Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Haider Shah unveiled a number of ground-breaking programs aimed at defending the rights of women and children.
He underlined the government’s commitment to empowering women and guaranteeing child welfare through different legal and social changes during the event, which was held today in a local hotel in Karachi.
Asif Haider Shah emphasized during his speech that the Sindh government has passed more than 22 legislation that are designed to protect women and children. In addition, he said that all birth registration fees will be waived, opening up the procedure to all families in the province.
Additionally, he disclosed that housing for two million flood victims is currently being built, with women receiving ownership rights to guarantee their empowerment.
