In a major upheaval, the Sindh government fired a number of top officials, powerful police station house officers (SHOs), and deputy commissioners as part of a crackdown that was sparked by business leaders’ concerns about inefficiency and bureaucratic corruption.
Five officials were removed from their positions in a single day as a result of the action, which was announced in a series of notices.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) East Shahzad Abbasi, DC Malir Irfan Salam, and DC Kemari Tahir Cheema are among those dismissed. In addition, key SHOs from Manghopir, Mauchko, Boat Basin, and Clifton were fired, as was Chief Engineer Highways (Grade 20) Ayub Junejo.
The DCs of Jacobabad and Tando Allahyar were also removed, as was Imtiaz Shah, the Managing Director (MD) of Sindh Solid Waste Management.
