After losing both of his children within a seven-year period, the 66-year-old singer of Bad Seeds made these remarks.
In 2015, his son Arthur, then 15 years old, fell from a cliff near his Brighton home. An inquest heard that it happened after he used this for the first time.
Then, in Melbourne, his 31-year-old son Jethro passed away from schizophrenia in 2022.
In an interview with The Guardian, the 66-year-old stated that burying a kid is “against nature” for a parent.
Given Cave’s personal difficulties with substance misuse, he was questioned if he felt responsible for any of their deaths, including Arthur’s. He responded, “There could be some element of that.”.
“Look, these things are inherited; they’re in our DNA,” he continued. Since Arthur was still a young lad, I don’t want to draw any conclusions about him. It’s not as though he was a drug user.
