According to officials who spoke to the news, the 43-year-old male was involved in a deadly incident on Sunday at the Pilanesberg National Park, which is outside of Johannesburg.
…The guest was accompanied by his fiancée, according to the authorities. “Reports suggest that the man stopped the vehicle… and went closer to the elephants to take pictures,” police spokeswoman Sabata Mokgwabone told the news agency.
The man was then charged by a female elephant, which the North West Parks and Tourism Board (NWPTB) said was joined by the entire herd, and he was unfortunately unable to flee or elude the elephant.
