The renowned American comedy show Saturday Night Live is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a three-hour special featuring a star-studded cast.
As usual, the SNL50 program was broadcast live from Studio 8H at the Rockefeller Center in New York City on Sunday rather than Saturday.
The show, which debuted in October 1975 and is well-known for its routines and celebrity hosts, helped establish the careers of comedic icons like Bill Murray and Eddie Murphy.
Along with newer talents, several made a comeback for the anniversary special. Highlights include the following:
The current woman, Paul Simon of the folk rock group Simon and Garfunkel, performed a duet with Sabrina Carpenter to open the evening. The two performed the band’s 1966 smash song.
