Following the opening of an investigation by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) into claims that the deputy Labour leader had broken electoral law, James Daly was questioned multiple times about his charges regarding her actions.
The primary issues in the dispute center on the property that Ms. Rayner called home ten years before becoming an MP and whether or not she correctly filed her taxes on the proceeds from the sale of her former Stockport council house.
Ms. Rayner has refuted any misconduct.
When News asked Mr. Daly about the concerns he had with news, he said that the “broad framing” of the issues had been published in The Times and that Greater Manchester Police was looking into the issues.
When questioned by the media about what he had requested of the police, he responded, “I asked them to investigate certain matters that were in the public domain regarding… certain things.”
