The case revolves around the long-standing allegation that Stormy Daniels and other women who claimed to have had affairs with Donald Trump were paid off.
A judge decided today that jury selection will start on Monday, March 25. The judge denied Trump’s attorneys’ demands for a postponement.
The main focus of the case is the long-standing allegation that Trump tried to suppress information regarding his extramarital affairs throughout the 2016 presidential campaign.
As a result of the ruling, Trump will go on trial for a criminal offense, making history.
Prosecutors assert that he paid off two women: former Playboy model Karen McDougal and porn actress Stormy Daniels; also, he allegedly paid off a doorman at Trump Tower who said to have information about Trump’s extramarital child. Trump disputes that he had any sex with anyone.
In a “catch-and-kill” tactic used to bury the story, Michael Cohen, Trump’s attorney at the time, paid Ms. Daniels $130,000 and arranged for the National Enquirer’s publisher to pay Ms. McDougal $150,000.
