The film, which Kendrick directed and starred in, tells the story of a serial killer who, while committing his crimes, appeared on a dating show on television in the 1970s.
The actress claimed that she didn’t anticipate the movie’s financial success and didn’t consider it until its release.
“I was just finishing the film when I realized that money would be changing hands. Additionally, I questioned myself if I felt disgusted by this. And I did. So, no, I’m not getting paid for the film.”
Kendrick directs Woman of the Hour and plays Cheryl Bradshaw, who made an appearance on Rodney Alcala’s 1978 show The Dating Game.
Alcala is accused of killing over 100 women and girls, but he was later convicted of eight killings between 1971 and 1979.
