Major Komal Masood, who served in the Central African Republic, and Major Sania Safdar, who is a member of the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus, received the medals, according to a statement released by the ISPR on Thursday, “for their outstanding performance and commitment in promoting the ideals of UN.”
The UN’s under-secretary general for peace operations gave the awards at the organization’s headquarters in New York.
The ISPR stated that “both officers demonstrated exceptional professionalism [and] dedication while serving in [an] international environment.”
The two peacekeepers “made [a] significant contribution to Mission’s Peace and Stability efforts, especially with regards to advancing women’s meaningful participation in Peacekeeping Operations within the mission,” the statement continued.
