The United States claims Russia is developing new worrying anti-satellite weapons, including a space-based missile with nuclear capabilities to destroy satellites.
John Kirby, the White House’s senior spokesperson, said after a member of the House of Representatives issued a warning about this serious national security threat.
However, John Kirby did not provide any other information on this threat, and he has not yet validated it.
John Kirby, President Joe Biden’s top assistant, confirmed that there is no immediate threat to US people.
He stated, “We are not discussing a weapon that can be used to target humans. Or wreak physical harm right here on Earth.”
According to Mr. Kirby, President Biden was apprised of the intelligence, and his administration was taking the weapon’s development “very seriously”. In reaction to the threat, he announced that the president has issued an order for “direct diplomatic engagement with Russia”.
Russia accused the US of using claims about new anti-satellite weaponry to coerce the US Congress into passing additional aid for Ukraine “by hook or crook.”

On Wednesday, House Intelligence Committee chairman Mike Turner issued a cryptic warning about a major threat to national security, sparking a flurry of whispers in the Capitol.
Mr Turner and other committee members met with National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on Thursday to continue their discussion of this issue.
“We all came away with a very strong impression that the administration is taking this very seriously and has a plan in place,” Mr. Turner stated after the meeting. “We look forward to supporting them as they go to implement it.”
Though space weaponry appears like something out of science fiction movies and novels like Spiderman 2 and GoldenEye, military strategists have long maintained that in a world where technology is becoming more prevalent, space will become the forefront of future conflicts.
