UNITED NATIONS: According to The News on Saturday, the UN Security Council (UNSC) has strongly denounced the “heinous and cowardly” attack on the Jaffar Express by the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) militants.
Christina Markus Lassen, the 15-member Council President for March from Denmark, released a statement expressing “deepest sympathy and condolences” to Islamabad and urging all nations to work closely with it in this area. Lassen also called for the guilty to be held accountable.
In the context of Tuesday’s attack on the Jaffar Express by BLA militants who detonated train tracks and held more than 440 passengers hostage during a day-long siege with security forces in a remote mountain pass in the Bolan area, the UN body issued its disapproval.
