The United States has reaffirmed its “longstanding policy” of refusing assistance to Pakistan for its ballistic missile program, stating that it will keep up the use of sanctions and other measures to safeguard its own national security and prevent “proliferators” from taking advantage of its financial system.
Addressing a question on the recent sanctions that Islamabad described as “biased and politically motivated” during a press briefing on Tuesday, State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that although Pakistan has been a longstanding partner of the US, there are differences.
“… and we won’t hesitate to act on those to protect America’s interests when we have disagreements,” he stated, highlighting the nation’s policy of withholding support from Pakistan for its missile development.
